map? what map?

Maps are tricky. On one hand, they’re a beautifully crafted art piece that further draws the reader into the world you created. On the other hand, it can be confining for the author. As with many components of my self-published journey, I went back and forth on the having a map in my book. Now, a map does exist for the series. The continents of Edrial, Sarisun, Cirinstance, islands of Qhi, Jku, Cinvuious Isles, Usaryn, and others I can’t name as you’ll need to discover them while reading, BWAHAHA. Anyway… Yes, I drew all these lands, recreated them in Procreate, but I was always underwhelmed with how they turned out. The idea is certainly there and based on main stream published fantasy maps, they’re adequate; however, I was never satisfied.

Also, my map was constantly evolving in small details. My story is charted out even down to the final chapters in the entire series; however, I do employ flexibility, allowing my imagination to take me from one strung event to the next, and in this process, additions to the map occur. Now, having said that, I will be adding a Map section to my website as time goes on, which will be challenging. Some of them will have headings informing the viewer that this is the map from - just an example - Book 1-2, and then another version below it with a header of Book 3-4. Because, kingdoms rise and fall, new lines are drawn, and the dawn of new ages draw breath.

Have a great day and enjoy this Autumn weather :)
