It, Buyouts, and the Annoyance of delusion

Spoilers Ahead.

Hope everyone’s December is going well :) It was interesting to watch It, Welcome to Derry knowing next year (possibly, business acquisitions move very slowly) this amazing show could be on Netflix. Or Paramount +. Or another company that emerges out of nowhere to claim Warner Bros/Discovery. Not that it matters, but I want to throw my two cents in here, tis my Rambling after all. It’s a shame that Warner seeks to sell itself to begin with. The house of DC, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Looney Tunes, Friends, The Big Bang Theory and hundreds of others not being named (we could do this forever). I’d prefer the company remain its own entity, and I’ve read many reasons why they’re selling themselves, everything from greedy CEOs to massive debt from bad decisions, all and none could be true. Fact of the matter is that they are selling the company.

Now, as a consumer with an opinion (we’ve plenty of those!) I prefer Netflix being the buyer, with hopes they’d merge Netflix and HBO Max (which has been debated). I hate having multiple streaming apps, lol, and I don’t like Paramount +. They only have South Park and Dexter. Whereas I always have Netflix. Just my opinion folks. Paramount…well, they used to be a good company. Company of Star Trek, South Park, and others. Without naming names, I’m not a supporter of Paramount’s current owners and financiers, preferring the owners of Warner Bros to not be certain entities. And this leads to the annoyance of delusion which will segue into episode 7 of It, Welcome to Derry. I promise I’m going somewhere, lol.

Too many parties involved in this buyout and the recent purchase of Paramount have…agendas, and I’m going to tread carefully here. While my books can be very political - and personally I’m very political - I do try to keep certain things separate just because people are nuts these days and my only “agenda” is to write fantasy stories. The fact that certain people want to ensure Warner Bros is purchased by Paramount because it’ll fuel their vision of the world is just sad, pathetic even. Who gives a damn. This is Hollywood. This is entertainment. The delusion that every single aspect of existence demands absolute command for the sake of narcissism and fear (which are two main damaged mental states for those who wish for dominance) is not only self-defeating but terrifying. Historically, individuals who sought to control every media platform wore their intentions on their sleeve, and entertainment should always be for the sake of entertainment. There’s nothing wrong with making a point in art, but it should neither be an agenda at the expense of “x” nor a planted seed to fuel a machine. Make of that what you will.

The military in It, Welcome to Derry finally unveiled its true intentions rife with their own delusions. May not have been a smooth segue, but we got here, lol. It’s early folks. So, they had never intended to control IT, but just to unleash IT, create rampant fear throughout ‘Murca to prevent - as Lieutenant General Shaw said - race wars, women’s equal rights, and other factors. Um, he’s an idiot, lol. I wasn’t 100% on the same plot page when he said he would use IT to attack foreign enemies, but unleashing it locally doesn’t make sense. IT is only active for so long, claiming a bunch of…um, food…and then sleeping for 27 years. But sure, lets rein centuries of racists by letting an interdimensional  fiery spider go nuts in 1 single location for a bit before resting. Newsflash, IT loves racists because a) it’s easier to control them due to their burning hatred/ignorance, and b) it fuels the flame of fear. I was loving this show, and I still do, but this was a bad plot point.

But! In this bad plot point, Shaw had one of the pillars containing IT destroyed, waking IT from their sleep after the Black Point massacre and dusting off the welcome mat to the rest of the world. Though Pennywise at Disney World would probably be morbidly hysterical… While we all know the pillar will be reinstated as Pennywise remains in Derry later, Hanlon is freaking out. I assume they’ll use the meteor dagger that Lilly currently has, burying it and replacing the destroyed pillar. Either way, I’m looking forward to the last episode and its promise for all out war between Pennywise and the military and kids.

Also, killing Rich is sad :( Liked that kid…

Have a great day, everyone!
