Book 1 & 2 updates

The Heart of the North was released on 12/1. A very long road that finally brought Book 1 into the light of day. So far, Book 1 has done…alright I suppose, lots of copies sold in paperback, none in hardback, and one in Kindle. No reads so far in the Kindle version. Either it’s lost in the multitude of fantasy novels released - big market - or I’m not quite getting how marketing works. Or, this is just how it is, billions of thoughts delving into insecurities aside, ahem, regardless, I’m proud of it. Once reviews come in, it should assist in the algorithm. Sadly, selling books these days feels more like a social media game than just enjoying books. Not a complaint, mind you, any setbacks I have in a social media presence are based on my lack of understanding of how it works. Part figuring it out and part I just want to write, lol.

Book 2 now, Serenity of Light (SOL), is in it’s hopefully final edit. For anyone who may have read The Heart of the North (THOTN), remember in the back I mentioned how SOL was technically written before THOTN, but I wanted to better flesh out Wil, Lasira, Eti, Cor, and others before launching into the meat of the story. SOL is a beast. Clocking in around 396,176 words, which will change when I clean up via edit, but will probably only vary by maybe 500-1000 words. Not a big deal. Regardless, this is 176,000 more words than THOTN. Tis a lot of Wil’s annoyance wouldn’t you say?!

SOL will be out in 2026, hoping by summer, never again will I release a book around the holidays… THOTN coming out on 12/1 was a huge error on my part. I’m also hoping that I’ll have 1-2 beta readers for SOL (any takers, please let me know and we’ll work out an arrangement!). Going through it again for errors and frankly, I’ll edit till the end of my days, a problem really. Still working on the cover design, but hopefully will have that reveal in late winter, early spring.

Yup, that’s it, brief update, back to your lives now :)
